To celebrate Tomb Raider's 30th anniversary, 8BitDo unveils two special edition controllers, the result of an official collaboration with Crystal Dynamics.

2026, Tomb Raider's 30th anniversary

As early as January 2026, several video game hardware makers announced dedicated products to mark Tomb Raider's 30th anniversary. 8BitDo was among them, and a first teaser video released in mid-September already showed the silhouettes of two controllers shrouded in darkness, alongside footage of the very first Tomb Raider running on a CRT screen. The official announcement date was later set for September 24, with the full reveal of both models.

Two controllers, two eras of Lara Croft

The first, the Ultimate 3 for Xbox, uses the design of the Ultimate range's flagship model. Its look pays tribute to Lara Croft's entire journey, from the very first games to her most recent adventures, bringing together several iconic elements of the saga in a single design.

The second, the Pro 3 Bluetooth, draws its inspiration from the Lost Valley, one of the most memorable levels from the original Tomb Raider released in 1996: ancient ruins, dense jungle, and rushing waterfalls are all reflected in the controller's design. This marks the very first special edition of the Pro 3 tied to a video game license since its launch.

Pre-orders and availability

Both controllers are available for pre-order on the 8BitDo eShop worldwide, with the Pro 3 also offered for pre-order on Amazon US. 8BitDo has not yet announced a precise release date.

This announcement comes as fans of the franchise are also awaiting two new games, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, both slated for 2027.
