Toys for Bob wants to bring Banjo-Kazooie out of hibernation

In a recent interview with YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh, Toys for Bob co-director Paul Yan expressed his desire to revive Banjo-Kazooie: *I think we can all agree that Banjo has hibernated enough, hasn't it?

The Californian studio has made a name for itself in recent years by bringing two iconic mascots back to life: Crash Bandicoot with It's About Time in 2020, and Spyro with the remastered trilogy in 2018. This know-how would make it a credible candidate to relaunch Rare's cult licence.

The last main game in the series dates back to 2008 with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts on Xbox 360. Since then, Banjo has kept a low profile, apart from a few appearances on Switch Online and in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Fans are still hoping for a real comeback.

Yan emphasises the good relationship with Xbox, the studio's current partner, which could facilitate future collaboration around the licence. But nothing has been confirmed yet: Toys for Bob is already working on another project, potentially a new Spyro, described as "ambitious “ and ”innovative ’.

In the meantime, this public statement rekindles hopes of one day seeing Banjo and Kazooie in a brand new adventure.
