Sega is taking nostalgia to the next level by teaming up with Japanese brand SuperGroupies to launch a collection of watches inspired by three of its most iconic consoles: the Mega Drive, Saturn, and Dreamcast. A tribute that should delight collectors with a strong attachment to the company's history.

Three consoles, three watches, one goal: nostalgia

SuperGroupies is no stranger to licensed merchandise, but this collaboration with Sega is particularly appealing to retro gaming enthusiasts. Each of the three watches faithfully recreates the visual identity of the console that inspired it, down to the smallest details: controller buttons, logos, and colors matching the original Japanese versions.

The Mega Drive and Saturn versions feature the cartridge slot, while the Dreamcast version recreates the circular design of its CD drive. As you can see in the featured image, each model accurately incorporates the design cues of the consoles and their buttons, both in terms of shapes and colors, with the details standing out in relief. There is no ambiguity here: even non-geeks will recognize the consoles at first glance.

Watches designed as true collector's items

Beyond the design, Sega and SuperGroupies have paid particular attention to the presentation. Each watch comes in a box recreating the aesthetic of the original Japanese packaging of its corresponding console, with the logo engraved on the back of the case.

As for the construction, the watches feature a stainless-steel case, a brass dial protected by mineral glass, and a Japanese Miyota 2039 quartz movement, with water resistance up to 5 ATM. To be clear, these are not smartwatches.

Availability and pricing

Pre-orders are already open on the SuperGroupies website, with delivery scheduled in Japan for early February 2027, followed by a worldwide release in spring. Each model is priced at 27,500 yen, or approximately 320 US dollars.
