Arcade is a category of emulation all its own, which is why we created Recalbox Mame DB, an online tool centralizing all the useful information about MAME and FBNeo games playable on Recalbox, with over 60,000 titles referenced. After several months focused on MAME and FBNeo, Recalbox Mame Data Base is stepping up a gear and is now called Recalbox Game DB, opening up to every system supported by Recalbox: home consoles, computers, handhelds.

From an arcade database to a general-purpose one

You may already have used Recalbox MAME DB, the tool we introduced back in April to centralize all the useful information about your MAME and FBNeo games. Given the tool's success and the community's feedback, we decided to think bigger: the DB is now starting to integrate every system supported by Recalbox, going well beyond the arcade world alone.

In concrete terms, this means the database will progressively cover your home consoles, your vintage computers, and your handhelds too, with the same level of detail you already know from the arcade side.

What you can already do with the DB

As a reminder, or for those discovering the tool for the first time, the DB isn't just a simple list of games. For each title, you'll find a detailed page with a screenshot, synopsis, rating, parent ROMs and clones, along with all the technical information: resolution, CPU, sound chips, inputs, and dip switches where applicable.

On the search side, the DB offers fast text search, plus advanced filters right in the search bar (year, manufacturer, genre, system, control type, number of players, max button count for cabinet compatibility...). Any filtered search can be shared with a simple copy of the URL.

A DAT export in Logiqx format (compatible with ClrMamePro / RomVault) is also available for the current filtered selection, handy for grabbing only what you actually need rather than a full set. As a reminder, Recalbox Game DB does not provide any ROMs or licensed files.

A project still in progress

One important note: the database is still being populated and isn't yet complete across all systems. The integration work continues system by system, and coverage will keep expanding over time. If you can't find your system or certain games just yet, don't worry — that's expected, the database is still growing. At the moment, 189,000 titles across 66 platforms have been referenced.
