Recalbox RGB Dual 2

It's back

Your Recalbox on a real CRT screen.

Recalbox returns with its latest hardware project to enchant your CRT screens: the Recalbox RGB Dual 2!

What it changes

The look of the time, no tinkering.

The HAT for Raspberry Pi 5 that connects your Recalbox to a CRT TV or a VGA monitor. 100% plug and play: plug in, play, enjoy!

The RGB Dual 2 board annotated: its jack, SCART, RCA and VGA outputs, its audio DAC and its 4:3 and 16:9 support
  1. Four outputs

SCART for CRT TVs, RCA for composite on TVs without SCART, VGA for PC monitors, and an audio/video jack for a TV or an external amplifier. The HDMI output stays, to run Recalbox in HD.

  2. Progressive and interlaced

RGB and composite signals, in progressive and interlaced modes: the 480i systems get their original resolutions back, and titles that change resolution while playing (240p > 480i > 240p) are followed.

  3. 4:3 and 16:9 TVs

On the SCART and RCA sockets, compatible with the widescreen hack, to play compatible Dreamcast, Super Nintendo and Mega Drive games in 16:9 without distorting the picture.

  4. High-fidelity sound

    A built-in I2S DAC audio module handles signals up to 384 kHz / 32-bit.

  5. GunCon 2

Experimental support for the GunCon 2 brings your favourite light gun games back to life.

  6. The RecalTower

A stackable official case for the Raspberry Pi 5 and the RGB Dual 2, which takes new floors over time.

240p, 480i, 480p

Every screen gets its own mode.

DIP switches on the board set it right for your display from the very first boot. A CRT TV over SCART, a PC monitor or a multi-sync display over VGA: 240p, 480i and 480p, RGB or composite, scanlines in 480p, and a switch between your CRT and an HDMI screen without unplugging anything.

The kit

Everything to connect your Recalbox to your CRT TV.

Take the RGB Dual 2 on its own, as a floor for your RecalTower, or in a kit with or without a Raspberry Pi 5. With the Pi 5, the kit comes assembled with Recalbox installed: official power supply, official fan, 128 GB microSD card, mini HDMI to HDMI cable and the RecalTower. The Card Reader can join it.
