Terms of use — Recalbox Online

Version 1 — [date of publication to be completed]

1. The service

Recalbox Online connects Recalbox systems to each other: rooms to play together over the internet, cups, challenges, community missions, and the pages of this site that show them. It is published by Recalbox, [legal form to be completed], whose registered office is at [to be completed].

2. Your account

Recalbox Online is used with a Recalbox account linked to your Recalbox. The account is personal: you keep its access to yourself and you are responsible for what is done with it.

3. Access

Recalbox Online is available in early access in Recalbox 11 Patron 1, to the patrons of Recalbox who test it with us, before it comes to everyone. Some features may stay reserved to patrons. Supporting Recalbox on Patreon is governed by Patreon's own terms: nothing is sold on this site under these terms of use.

4. Games, ROMs and BIOS

Recalbox does not distribute, sell or make available any ROM, BIOS or other copy of a commercial game, and Recalbox Online does not either: it never sends a game file from one player to another.

You play with your own dumps, made from games and hardware you own, and with the BIOS files you are entitled to use. You alone are responsible for the files you put on your Recalbox and for having the right to use them in your country.

The names, logos and screenshots of games shown on this site identify the games played; they belong to their owners.

5. Fair play

A score, a match or a result must come from a game really played. Altering a game's memory, a save, a result or the software of the service to change an outcome is forbidden. Recalbox may refuse a run, cancel a result, take a player out of a cup or suspend an account that breaks this rule.

6. Behaviour

Respect the other players. A nickname, an avatar or a message that insults, harasses or breaks the law may be changed or removed, and its author suspended.

7. What is public

Your nickname, your scores, your results and the matches you play may be shown on this site and broadcast live, including on Twitch, as part of challenges and cups.

8. Availability

Recalbox Online is provided as it is, by a project that runs it with the means it has. It may be interrupted, changed or stopped, in whole or in part, without notice and without compensation.

9. Personal data

Questions about your data and requests to exercise your rights are sent to legal@recalbox.com.

10. Changes and governing law

These terms may change; the version in force is the one published on this page. They are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory provisions of your country of residence that protect you more.
